To clear up any confusion…the ‘At the Car Wash’ party slated for Aug 7th has been canceled. The owner of the car wash doesn’t want any additional heat to his little operation…so the event is off. It’s too bad because the space was absolutely amazing…it’s too bad because everything was all set..including the buff & dry bikini action. weak.

The spring is fighting to take hold, but the April showers have continued into May. Let the El Ridiculoso team dry you off with some electrifying house and techno beats. The team is happy to announce they have secured Andy Slate to drop some knowledge from behind the mixing desk.

Andy Slate Bio:

Since he remembers, Andy was always surrounded by music. His dad showed him the way to his passion when he was at the age of 6. One of the first important musical influences were the Beatles, Elvis, James Brown, Herbie Hancock, Depeche Mode and Jean-Michel Jarre. In 1983 Andy had his first contact with 2 turntables and a mixer. At the time he was listening rap and hip-hop. He was a member of a breakdance performance group and was making the music behind the decks by scratching and cutting for the breakdancers. Couple years later when house music came to Europe, he got infected by the beats and rhythms. Andy began to spin at school and student parties while playing with 2 tape decks and 2 turntables. Then he had a residency for a small club next to Mannheim, Germany.

Before moving to Hungary in 1997 he ran a club in Germany where he organized drum’n'bass, house as well as techno events. After exploring almost every style of electronic music, Andy decided to represent the sound of Techno. Andy Slate uses 100% concentration to give back a perfect sound by using the DJM600 mixer, 3 Technics MKII turntables and a laptop. His sets are not just one-sided: they contain a bright spectrum of the 21st century’s modern dance music. He prefers to play pumpin’ and funky techhouse filled with progressive beats and deep house grooves. When Andy is playing behind the decks, he is totally immersed with the sound coming out of the sound system. His positive and energetic sound makes everybody dance and happy. Andy always tries to let the music speak in a language that everybody understands.

Over the past 10 years, Andy Slate has played along with many well known artists: Dave Clarke, Jeff Mills, Josh Wink, Tim Taylor, Green Velvet, Umek, Kanzyani, Paul Mac, Marco Bailey, Kenny Larkin, Stacey Pullen, Mike Grant, Steve Stoll, Misjah, Anthony Shakir, John Acquaviva, Colin Dale, Takkyu Ishino, Adam Beyer, Acid Junkies, Monika Kruse, Westbam, DJ Duke, Supa DJ Dmitry and many more. In 1997 and 1999 he took part at the loveparade in Berlin with the first Hungarian Float which was the first participant from the East Bloc Countries.

In 1999 he supported Jamiroquai on his Synchronized World Tour in Budapest performing live with Duel and Kingkonga. His technotive productions are played by the biggest djs around the globe. You can find his tracks on the playlists of Laurent Garnier, Carl Cox, Joey Beltram, Misstress Barbara, Kevin Saunderson, Umek and a lot more. On the other side, his deeper and more house tracks are played by Deep Dish, Behrouz, Circulation, Danny Howells and Desyn Masiello. These days Andy is working a lot in the studio doing new tracks and remixes. Since 2003 Andy started to work with Tim Taylor (Missile Records London) on several projects reaching from 70s disco rare grooves up to ruff n tuff techno beats. To realize these projects Tim Taylor moved for 6 months to Budapest.

Part of the month long Urbitalis Festival, Dr. Pokoly will be performing at one of the opening celebrations at Tuzraktér on Friday April 30th. The night is focusing on the different romkocsmák (derelict buildings converted into bars) around Budapest.

The El Ridiculoso team works day in and day out to bring you Budapest’s highest quality of house and techno. Going for another two-peat, we’re bringing back a crowd favorite, Grabowsky. His seamless mixes bring a taste of the forgotten disco sound into the normal house and techno melange that can be heard blasting from Vittula’s speakers. The El Ridiculoso team pride themselves on the diversity of the talent they bring into their party on a monthly basis. Each and every party has showcased a different underground house & techno DJ or performer. This time last year, the duo of Wachter & Rene Mascarpone also known as Random Surprise hijacked the ears and souls of all who were in attendance at Klub Vittula.

We simply had to get them back…and back they are! The Random Surprise duo will work the magic behind the mixing desk along side with your gracious residents Dr. Pokoly and Curtis aka Dentist.

The audiovisual group Random Surprise has masterminded several successful house & techno events this season at venues around Budapest such as Art Katakomba, CÖKXPôN, Tűzraktér and Merlin.

The most important thing for BLK is to be eclectic in all cases! In the last 6 six years he takes a dislike to monotone never-ending “bum-bum” rhythms although sometimes he includes hard minimal and electro-techno tracks into his mixes…

Lives in Budapest where he was born in 1980. Producing music for his own entertainment since ’93, when he got his first pc and started with the super-fantastic scream-tracker and with a self made analog soundcard connected to the computers parallel port. He produced so many several tracks and remixes however he never ever gave out anything officially of his work, and never wanted to be signed by any label until today. In the late 90ies he organized special acid and techno parties at illegal unlisted locations for 3 years. These parties were the fascinations before a few wasted years. He worked for one of the biggest Hungarian festival organizer companies from 2002 where he met his new friend, Stress. They decided to work and try some new things together in Budapest’s nightlife. After they got some experience in organizing festivals, they made a huge party and lost all of their money, as everybody (usually). They didn’t leave off and continued the work on common ambitions and started on its way the website electroclash.hu (pufff.hu later) and to play electro-clash back2back in 2003. Everything is changing, their style changed as well and turned into electro-house-rock and currently BLK plays indietronic-house mixed with nice electro tunes. They worked on the Lollipop project together until 2006 summer when their very good co-operation becomes into a real clash. He didn’t want to waste time and started to work… :)

He played uncounted times all around Budapest, perhaps in all underground clubs. He played also in Transylvania, Austria, Slovakia and in Germany and worked and played as a support dj with international acts like Bunny Lake, Mihai Popoviciu, Dahlia, Napsugar, Bomb Boutique, Carlo Von Lynx, Mujik , Gowan, Monosurround, New Wave Hookers, Christian Camille, Tetsuo, Fraulein G, Clara Moto, Illinoise, Zarkoff, Monoblock-b, Dj Gabanna, Lagun and many-many more… BLK says thanx for everybody…

The El Ridiculoso team is back on December 5th. Their esteemed guest is Grabowsky, who originally hails from Debrecen. He moved to the capital a few years ago and has been rocking the dance floors with his unique blend disco and tech house.
