15 Nov 08 - El Ridiculoso with Vittorio Waxman (once known as Pedro)

Vittorio Waxman (once known as Pedro) has been a devotee of the shiny black disc since the end of the 80’s - his addiction started when he bought his first 12”, namely: Talking All That Jazz by Stetsasonic. He has been playing as a DJ since 92, for which he got the real thrill during his Vicenza years, which proved to be a good medium for an initiation into the roots of funk, hip hop and acid jazz. Thanks to a guy named Ciso (RIP) he got to know behind the counters of a record shop - who also ran a radio station and a venue called Palladium - the town could witness such acts as De La Soul, Tribe Called Quest, Maceo Parker and Galliano, and from time to time Pedro had the opportunity to play before the busy boss. The regulars of Palladium were none other than the black braddas from the local NATO base.

He started a regular show on Budapest based community radio Tilos Radio in the middle of the 90’s. The spectrum of his Friday night Filter spans from the funk and disco beats of the 70’s, through the roots of hip hop to today’s broken and club beats, and has hosted a wide range of acts who appeared in Budapest, like Matt Black (Coldcut, UK), Matrix (UK), Dublex, Quanntic, PMD (US), DJ Honda (US), Paul Jackson (UK), Kid Loco (F), Megablast (A), Paine (I), DSL (A), Dave Tipper (UK).

Having been around since the emergence of the Hungarian club scene, being a regular DJ at those one time Tilos parties, and being a name to pop up on festival flyers for sure, he has appeared with the heavy-weights of the international scene (Francesco Farfa, Terry Lee Brown Jr., Timewriter, Josh Wink, Laurent Garnier,Pascal Bongo Massive, Sven Vath, Jose Padilla, Paul Jackson, Danny Rampling, Paul Oakenfold, 4Hero, Layo& Bushwacka, Finger Lickin’ crew, Freestylers, Derek Delarge, Les Rhythm Digitales, Touché (The Wiseguys), Paul Murphy (Deck Attack), Krafty Kuts (Cinetrip),Mookie & A Skillz(Bomb Strikes),Rob Swift.BOMB THE JAZZ events with Kenny Dope,Todd Terje,Mr.V.,Dj Yoda,Blaze,Dj Format,Ge-ology,Bonobo,Danny Breaks,Steinski, at home and abroad (Palic (ex-Yu): EtnoCamp – with Lajkó Félix; Big Bud (Super 8), Trench Town – René Pilgrem, Claus Heavyweight Hill, Chris Carter (TCR); Novi Sad: Exit Fesztivál, Barcelona: Groove Parade Los Monegros; Warsaw - Poland, Germany: Xaver Fisher Trio.)

On his weekdays he plays at club nights and cafés: during the summer he is a resident DJ at the Coke Club, the openair beach club in Siófok, over the colder months he plays at the Cinetrip Sparties in Rudas Bath, clubs like Merlin and Corvin tető.
