When I first heard about this film, I wasn’t sure if it was going to be a documentary or a feature length film. After some minor sleuthing, I found out it’s a full length film and it looks delicious. My problem is how to view it…if I understand correctly, it’s making the rounds at all of the film festivals, and it was just released in Germany, most likely at selected theaters only ;) Nevertheless, here’s what it’s all about, official blog…
Berlin electronic music composer Martin (Paul Kalkbrenner), known as DJ Ickarus, is touring with his manager and girlfriend Mathilde (Rita Lengyel) from club to club around the globe and is about to release their biggest album to date. However, all of his plans are thrown out of kilter after Ickarus is submitted to the emergency ward of a psychiatric clinic high on drugs after a gig- A tragicomedy in Berlin of today.
The trailer can be found on the official blog of them film, but what I found more interesting was a clip from Paul Kalkbrenner rockin’ a crowd at the Piazza Grande somewhere in Italy. The clip just oozes that summer feeling….and something like a controlled festival, except all of the people in attendance were either movie buffs or more likely, electronica lovers. I was hoping the Viennale film festival here in Vienna was going to show it, but I didn’t see it within the schedule. Weak.
